Opmax 40 

Presentation:Opmax 40 Capsule, available in Bangladesh, typically contains Omeprazole 40 mgin an enteric-coated capsule form for oral administration. 

Indications: Opmax (Omeprazole) is indicated for the treatment of various acid-related conditions, including:

• Gastric and duodenal ulcers  
• NSAID-associated duodenal and gastric ulcers and as prophylaxis in patients with a history of these conditions  
• Gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD) including severe ulcerating reflux esophagitis and long-term management
• Acid-related dyspepsia  
• Prophylaxis of acid aspiration during general anesthesia  
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome  
• Helicobacter pylori-induced peptic ulcer(in combination with antibiotics)  

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Opmax (Omeprazole) depends on the condition being treated and the patient's response. Always follow your doctor's specific instructions.

• Opmax capsules should be swallowed whole and should not be chewed or crushed.  
• It is generally recommended to take Opmax on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes to one hour before a meal, preferably in the morning.  
• For gastric ulcers, the usual dose is 40 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks.  
• For duodenal ulcers, the usual dose is 20 mg once daily for 2 to 4 weeks; in severe or recurrent cases, this may be increased to 40 mg daily.
• For reflux esophagitis, the usual dose is 20 mg once daily for 4 to 8 weeks; in severe cases, 40 mg once daily may be given for up to 8 weeks.
• For long-term management of acid reflux disease, the maintenance dose is usually 10-20 mg daily.
• For H. pylori eradication, Omeprazole 20 mg is typically given twice daily in combination with specific antibiotics for one week.
• For Zollinger-Ellison syndrome, the initial dose is usually 60 mg once daily, with adjustments based on individual needs.  
• For prophylaxis of acid aspiration, 40 mg is given on the preceding evening, then 40 mg 2-6 hours before surgery.  

Side Effects:Opmax (Omeprazole) is generally well-tolerated.Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, and abdominal pain.Less common side effects may include dizziness, constipation, dry mouth, and skin rash. Long-term use may potentially lead to vitamin B12 deficiency or an increased risk of bone fractures in some individuals.

Precautions: Opmax (Omeprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to omeprazole or any other proton pump inhibitors (PPIs). Exercise caution in patients with severe liver disease and during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor before use. Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, as Omeprazole can interact with certain drugs, such as warfarin, phenytoin, and diazepam.When gastric ulcer is suspected, the possibility of gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy.

Storage: Store Opmax capsules in a cool, dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children. The storage temperature should generally be below 30°C, but refer to the specific product packaging for any specific storage instructions.
