MarinCal-D 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (from coral source) BP 1250 mg equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg and Vitamin D3 200 IU as Colecalciferol BP. Also available as MarinCal-DX with Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 USP 400 IU.

Indications: MarinCal-D is indicated for the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis, osteomalacia, tetany, hypoparathyroidism, and disorders of osteogenesis. It can also be used as a supplement in case of inadequate intake of Calcium in childhood diet, rickets, pregnancy & lactation, and in elderly patients. Other indications include pancreatitis and as a phosphate binder in chronic renal failure.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water, preferably with or after a meal to ensure better absorption, or as directed by a physician.

Side Effects: Flatulence, diarrhea, constipation, and upper gastrointestinal discomfort are rare. Hypercalcemia due to prolonged use has rarely been reported.

Precautions: MarinCal-D is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to any component, hypercalcemia resulting from Vitamin D3 overdose, hyperparathyroidism, bone metastases, severe renal insufficiency, severe hypercalciuria, and renal calculi. Caution should be exercised in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment or mild hypercalciuria, and monitoring of plasma calcium levels and urinary calcium excretion may be necessary. Adequate fluid intake is recommended in patients with a history of renal stones.

Storage: Store at a temperature below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
