Presentation: Soft gelatin capsules containing 400 mg of Vitamin E (as d-alpha tocopheryl acetate). The capsules are intended for oral administration. The color and shape of the capsules may vary depending on the manufacturer, which is ACME Laboratories Ltd. in Bangladesh.
Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of Vitamin E deficiency. Vitamin E is also suggested for use as an antioxidant to promote, prevent, and treat various health conditions such as:
Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose for Vitamin E deficiency is 200-400 mg daily, or as directed by a physician. For specific conditions, the following doses are often recommended:
The capsule should be swallowed whole with water, preferably with or after a meal to enhance absorption. Always follow your healthcare provider's advice regarding dosing.
Side Effects: Diarrhea and abdominal pain may occur with doses greater than 1000 mg daily. Other reported side effects include fatigue, headache, flatulence, blurred vision, and increased serum creatinine levels. In infants, necrotizing enterocolitis has been reported. There is also a reported increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke with high doses.
Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to vitamin E. Patients with rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption, or sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency should not take this medicine. Lifil-E may impair the absorption of Vitamin A and the function of Vitamin K and may potentiate the effect of Warfarin. It has been reported to increase bleeding tendency in vitamin K deficient patients or those taking anticoagulant treatments; monitoring prothrombin time and INR is recommended. It may also increase the risk of thrombosis in patients predisposed to this condition, including women taking estrogen-containing oral contraceptives. There is no evidence of the safety of high doses of vitamin E in pregnancy, especially in the first trimester, and it is advisable not to use during lactation.
Storage: Keep in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children.
