Foly 15 

Presentation: Tablets containing 15 mg of Folinic Acid (as Calcium Folinate). Available in strips. Manufactured by Drug International Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Folinic Acid 15 mg (as Calcium Folinate BP).

Indications: Indicated to diminish the toxicity and counteract the effects of folic acid antagonists such as Methotrexate and Trimethoprim. Also used to treat megaloblastic anemia due to folate deficiency, as in sprue, nutritional deficiency, and megaloblastic anemia of pregnancy and infancy.

Dosage & Administration:

• Reduction of harmful effects of folic acid antagonists: Usually one 15 mg tablet every 6 hours for 2 to 3 days.
• Megaloblastic anemia: One 15 mg tablet daily.
• Or as directed by a registered physician.

Side Effects: Allergic reactions may occur, including sudden itchy rash (hives), swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth, or throat (which may cause difficulty in swallowing or breathing),fits, and fainting.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Calcium Folinate or any components of the product. Also contraindicated in pernicious anemia or other megaloblastic anemia where Vitamin B12 is deficient. Calcium Folinate treatment may mask pernicious anemia and other megaloblastic anemias resulting from Vitamin B12 deficiency. Use with caution in epileptic patients treated with Phenobarbital, Phenytoin, Primidone, and Succinimides as it may increase the frequency of seizures.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place.
