Epilep CR 200is a controlled-release tablet containing 200 mg of Carbamazepine. 
It is manufactured by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications:

Epilep CR is indicated for the treatment of:

• Partial and secondary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. 
• Primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures. 
• Trigeminal neuralgia. 
• Prophylaxis of bipolar disorder.  

Dosage and Administration:

The dosage is individualized and should be determined by your doctor.

• Adults and children over 12 years: Initial dose is usually 200 mg twice daily. The dose may be increased gradually at weekly intervals to achieve optimal response. Maintenance dose is usually 800-1200 mg daily.
• Children 6-12 years:Initial dose is usually 100 mg twice daily.The dose may be increased gradually at weekly intervals. Maintenance dose is usually 400-800 mg daily.

Epilep CR tablets should be swallowed whole and not crushed or chewed. It is usually taken with food.

Side Effects:

Common side effects may include:

• Dizziness 
• Drowsiness 
• Ataxia (problems with muscle coordination) 
• Nausea 
• Vomiting 
• Dry mouth  

Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. It's important to discuss any side effects with your doctor.

Precautions:

Inform your doctor if you have a history of heart problems, liver or kidney disease, glaucoma, blood disorders, or allergic reactions to carbamazepine or other similar drugs. Carbamazepine can interact with many other medications. It may also decrease the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives.
