Cordef 6
Presentation: Tablets containing 6 mg of deflazacort.
Indications: Cordef 6 is a corticosteroid indicated for the treatment of a variety of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions. These may include: endocrine disorders, rheumatic disorders (e.g., rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile idiopathic arthritis), collagen diseases (e.g., systemic lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis), dermatologic diseases (e.g., pemphigus, bullous dermatitis herpetiformis), allergic states (e.g., severe or incapacitating allergic conditions unresponsive to conventional treatment), respiratory diseases (e.g., symptomatic sarcoidosis, severe or fulminating pulmonary tuberculosis when used concurrently with appropriate chemotherapy), hematologic disorders (e.g., idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura in adults, secondary thrombocytopenia in adults), neoplastic diseases (for palliative management of leukemias and lymphomas), nervous system disorders (e.g., acute exacerbations of multiple sclerosis), ophthalmic diseases (e.g., severe acute and chronic allergic and inflammatory processes involving the eye and its adnexa), and renal diseases (e.g., to induce a diuresis or a remission of proteinuria in idiopathic nephrotic syndrome). The specific condition for which Cordef 6 is prescribed will be determined by your doctor.
Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Cordef 6 varies depending on the condition being treated, its severity, and the patient's response. It is administered orally. Your doctor will determine the appropriate starting dose and may adjust it over time. Follow your doctor's instructions precisely regarding the dose and duration of treatment. Do not stop taking Cordef 6 suddenly without consulting your doctor, as this may lead to withdrawal symptoms. It is usually taken once daily, preferably in the morning to mimic the body's natural cortisol production.
Side Effects: Common side effects of deflazacort, as with other corticosteroids, may include increased appetite, weight gain, fluid retention, mood changes, insomnia, increased blood sugar levels, and increased blood pressure. Long-term use may lead to more serious side effects such as osteoporosis, muscle weakness, skin thinning, increased susceptibility to infections, cataracts, and glaucoma. Deflazacort is sometimes associated with a lower incidence of certain side effects compared to other corticosteroids, but all potential risks should be discussed with your doctor. Report any persistent or troublesome side effects to your doctor.
Precautions:
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
