Capitis 10 Tablet

Presentation: Each tablet contains Flunarizine Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Flunarizine 10 mg. 

Indications: Capitis is indicated for the prophylactic treatment of migraine, vestibular vertigo, and peripheral vascular diseases.

Dosage and Administration:

• Migraine Prophylaxis: The usual starting dose for adults is 10 mg once daily, preferably at night. The maintenance dose can be reduced to 5 mg daily if the patient shows a good response and the maintenance dose is well tolerated. The duration of treatment is usually limited to 6 months. If there is no improvement after 2 months of treatment, discontinuation should be considered.
• Vestibular Vertigo: The usual dose is 10 mg once daily.
• Peripheral Vascular Diseases: The usual dose is 10 mg twice daily.

Your doctor will determine the appropriate dose and duration of treatment based on your specific condition.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness
• Weight gain
• Increased appetite
• Depression
• Extrapyramidal symptoms (such as restlessness, slowed movement, muscle stiffness, tremor)

Less common side effects may include gastrointestinal disturbances, anxiety, and dry mouth.

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of depression, extrapyramidal symptoms, or hepatic impairment.
• Avoid use in patients with Parkinson's disease or other extrapyramidal disorders.
• May cause drowsiness; caution should be exercised while driving or operating machinery.
• Use with caution in elderly patients due to increased susceptibility to side effects.
• The safety of Capitis during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established; consult your doctor.

Contraindications: Capitis is contraindicated in patients with:

• Known hypersensitivity to flunarizine.
• History of depressive illness.
• Pre-existing extrapyramidal symptoms.
• Parkinson's disease.

Drug Interactions: Capitis may enhance the sedative effects of alcohol and central nervous system depressants. It may also interact with certain medications used to treat high blood pressure.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
