Zinga B tablet is a nutritional supplement containing a combination of B Vitamins and Zinc. It is manufactured by Biopharma Limited in Bangladesh.
The specific composition of each tablet is:
- Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1) BP 5 mg
- Riboflavin-5-Phosphate Sodium BP 2.74 mg (equivalent to Riboflavin/Vitamin B2 2 mg)
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6) BP 2 mg
- Nicotinamide (Vitamin B3) BP 20 mg
- Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP 27.45 mg (equivalent to elemental Zinc 10 mg)
Indications
Zinga B is indicated for the treatment and prevention of deficiencies in zinc and vitamin B. It is often prescribed for conditions where there's an increased need for these nutrients or inadequate intake, such as:
- Zinc deficiency: Which can lead to impaired immune function, delayed wound healing, decreased taste and smell, skin changes (dermatitis), hair loss (alopecia), and growth retardation.
- Vitamin B deficiencies: These vitamins are crucial for energy metabolism, nerve function, and red blood cell formation. Deficiencies can cause fatigue, neurological symptoms (weakness, poor balance, memory loss), skin lesions, and digestive problems.
- It is particularly useful during periods of increased demand, such as during growth, recovery from illness, or in cases of malabsorption.
Pharmacology
- B Vitamins (Thiamine, Riboflavin, Pyridoxine, Nicotinamide): These are essential water-soluble vitamins that act as coenzymes in various metabolic processes, including carbohydrate, fat, and protein metabolism, necessary for energy production and proper cell function. They play vital roles in nerve function, DNA synthesis, and red blood cell formation.
- Zinc: An essential trace element involved in over 100 enzymatic reactions in the body. It plays a critical role in immune function, wound healing, protein synthesis, cell division, DNA synthesis, and maintaining the senses of taste and smell. It also has antioxidant properties.
Dosage and Administration
Zinga B tablets are taken orally. The specific dosage should be determined by a physician based on individual needs.
- Adults & Children over 30 kg: 1 to 2 tablets 2 to 3 times daily, or as recommended by the physician.

These effects are usually temporary and may diminish as the body adjusts.

- Interaction with other medications: Be aware of potential drug interactions (see below).
Pregnancy and Lactation
- Pregnancy & Lactation: This supplement (Vitamin B Complex + Zinc) is generally considered to be safe and is often recommended during pregnancy and lactation to meet increased nutritional demands, but always consult a physician before use.
Drug Interactions
- Tetracyclines: Concomitant intake of tetracycline antibiotics and zinc may decrease the absorption of both the tetracycline and zinc.
- Quinolones: Similarly, concomitant administration of zinc and quinolone antibiotics may decrease the absorption of both.
- Penicillamine: Concomitant intake of penicillamine and zinc may decrease the absorption of zinc.
- Levodopa: Pyridoxine (Vitamin B6) can lower the efficacy of levodopa (used for Parkinson's disease) by increasing its peripheral metabolism.
- Phenytoin: The combination of pyridoxine and phenytoin may lower phenytoin levels in the blood.
- HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (statins): Niacin (Nicotinamide) used with statins may increase the risk of myopathy and rhabdomyolysis.
