Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency, which can arise from inadequate dietary intake, malabsorption syndromes, excessive zinc loss (e.g., during diarrhea), or increased zinc requirements. Zinc plays a vital role in immune function, wound healing, growth, and sensory functions.

Dosage & Administration: Dosage depends on age and the severity of the zinc deficiency.

• Tablet (Adults & Children over 30 kg): Typically 1-2 tablets once or twice daily, or as directed by a physician.
• Syrup (Adults): Usually 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) once or twice daily.
• Syrup (Children): Dosage should be determined by a physician based on age and weight. A common guideline is 5-10 ml (1-2 teaspoonfuls) once daily for children. The medication is generally best absorbed when taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. However, if gastrointestinal upset occurs, it can be taken with food.

Side Effects: Potential side effects include nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea, especially at higher doses.

Precautions: Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to zinc. In patients with acute renal failure, zinc accumulation may occur, necessitating dosage adjustments. Concurrent administration of zinc with tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics may impair the absorption of both drugs; a time interval of at least 3 hours between doses is recommended.
