Zinc R 20

Presentation: Tablets containing Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate BP equivalent to elemental Zinc 20 mg. Available in blister packs containing [Number] tablets, manufactured by Radiant Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency, which can occur due to inadequate dietary intake, malabsorption, excessive loss due to diarrhea, burns, or other conditions. It is essential for growth, immune function, wound healing, and other physiological processes.

Dosage and Administration:

• Children under 10 kg: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) syrup twice daily after food (if syrup formulation is available).
• Children 10-30 kg: 10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) syrup 1-3 times daily after food (if syrup formulation is available).
• Adults and children over 30 kg: 20 mg (1 tablet) 1-3 times daily after food. The tablet can be taken with or without food, but absorption may be better if taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals. However, if stomach upset occurs, it can be taken with food.

Side Effects: Possible side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach distress, heartburn, and gastritis.

Precautions: Contraindicated in individuals with known hypersensitivity to zinc. Zinc accumulation may occur in acute renal failure, requiring dose adjustment. Concomitant intake with tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics may reduce the absorption of both drugs. Zinc absorption may be reduced if taken with penicillamine.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
