Zedex DS 

Presentation: Syrup containing Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate, typically 10 mg elemental Zinc per 5 ml. Available in 100 ml bottles. Manufactured by Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh.

Ingredients: Zinc Sulfate Monohydrate USP (equivalent to 10 mg elemental Zinc per 5 ml).

Indications: Indicated for the treatment and prevention of zinc deficiency. Zinc is essential for numerous bodily functions including immune function, wound healing, growth and development. May be used in conditions such as growth retardation, skin lesions, increased susceptibility to infections, and diarrhea.

Dosage & Administration: Dosage depends on age and weight.

  • Children under 10 kg: 5 ml (1 teaspoonful) 2 times daily after food.
  • Children between 10-30 kg:10 ml (2 teaspoonfuls) 1-3 times daily after food. 
  • Adults and children over 30 kg:20 ml (4 teaspoonfuls) 1-3 times daily after food.It is most effective if taken 1 hour before or 2 hours after meals, but can be taken with food if it causes stomach upset.

Side Effects: May cause nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach upset, heartburn, and gastritis.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to zinc. In acute renal failure, zinc accumulation may occur, requiring dose adjustment. Concomitant intake of tetracycline or quinolone antibiotics and zinc may decrease the absorption of both; maintain a 3-hour interval.

Storage: Store in a dry place away from light and heat. Keep out of reach of children.
