Indications
Xpa-C is a combination product indicated for the treatment of:
- Pain: Headache, migraine, toothache, neuralgia, period pain, sore throat, and backache.
- Feverishness: Helps to reduce temperature.
- Cold and Flu Symptoms: Aches and pains associated with colds and flu.
Pharmacology
Xpa-C is a combination of Paracetamol and Caffeine.
- Paracetamol: An analgesic and antipyretic with weak anti-inflammatory properties.
- Caffeine: An alkaloid that increases the solubility and absorption of Paracetamol, enhancing its effect. It also increases the pain threshold and helps to constrict blood vessels in the brain, which is beneficial for treating headaches and migraines.
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 1-2 tablets every 4-6 hours. The maximum daily dose is 8 tablets.
- Children: Not recommended for children under 12 years of age.
Interaction
- Anticonvulsants: May reduce the serum levels of Paracetamol.
- Warfarin and other coumarins: Prolonged use may enhance the anticoagulant effect.
- Metoclopramide and Domperidone: May accelerate absorption of Paracetamol.
- Probenecid and Chloramphenicol: May increase serum levels of Paracetamol.
- Colestyramine: May reduce absorption if taken within 1 hour.
- Phenothiazine: May cause severe hypothermia.
Contraindications
This medicine is contraindicated in patients with:
- Severe renal function impairment.
- Hepatic disease (e.g., Viral Hepatitis).
- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol or Caffeine.
Side Effects
Side effects are usually mild. Gastrointestinal issues may occur. Rarely, blood disorders such as thrombocytopenia and agranulocytosis have been reported. Pancreatitis, skin rashes, and other allergic reactions may also occur occasionally.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Pregnant women should consult a doctor before taking this medication. Paracetamol and Caffeine can be taken while breastfeeding.
Precautions & Warnings
- Administer with caution to patients with hepatic or renal failure.
- Use caution in patients taking other hepatotoxic medications.
- Prolonged use without consulting a physician should be avoided.
Overdose Effects
Symptoms of a Paracetamol overdose within the first 24 hours include pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and abdominal pain. Liver damage may become apparent 12 to 40 hours after ingestion.

Xpa-C is classified as a Non-Opioid Analgesic.
Storage Conditions
Store in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep all medicines out of the reach of children.
