Xanita 500 

Presentation:Each tablet contains Nitazoxanide INN 500 mg.Xanita is a brand name marketed by Renata PLC in Bangladesh. It is usually available in blister packs.

Indications:Xanita (Nitazoxanide) is an antiprotozoal agent indicated for the treatment of diarrhea caused by:  

• Cryptosporidium parvum   
• Giardia lamblia   
• Entamoeba histolytica

Dosage and Administration:Toza is recommended to be administered with food.The usual dose for adults and children 12 years or above is one 500 mg tablet every 12 hours for 3 days.

Side Effects: The most frequent side effects reported are abdominal pain, vomiting, and headache. These side effects are typically mild and transient. Less common side effects may include nausea, anorexia, flatulence, and discolored urine.  

Precautions:Xanita (Nitazoxanide) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to nitazoxanide or any components of the preparation.Caution should be exercised when administering Xanita concurrently with other highly plasma protein-bound drugs with a narrow therapeutic index. Xanita should be administered with caution to patients with hepatic and biliary disease and to patients with renal disease.  

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation:Xanita should be used during pregnancy only if clearly needed.Nitazoxanide has been shown to be excreted in human milk, so caution should be exercised when administered during lactation.  

Storage:Keep in a dry place away from light and heat.Keep out of the reach of children.
