Vortiox 5
Presentation: Each tablet contains 5 mg of Vortioxetine (as Vortioxetine Hydrobromide).
Indications: Vortiox 5 is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD) in adults.
Dosage and Administration:
- The usual starting and recommended dose is 10 mg once daily in adults less than 65 years of age.
- Depending on individual patient response and tolerability, the dose may subsequently be increased to a maximum of 20 mg daily or decreased to 5 mg daily.
- Dosage of 5 mg once daily should be considered for patients 65 years or older.
- It can be taken with or without food.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include:
- Nausea
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Vomiting
- Dizziness
- Dry mouth
Less common side effects may include:
- Increased sweating
- Insomnia
- Abnormal dreams
- Anxiety
- Decreased appetite
- Sexual dysfunction (e.g., delayed ejaculation, anorgasmia)
Precautions:
- Inform your doctor if you have a history of mania or hypomania.
- Use with caution in patients with a history of seizures.
- Vortioxetine may increase the risk of bleeding, especially if taken with other medications that affect blood clotting, such as NSAIDs, aspirin, or warfarin.
- Avoid use with nonselective monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs). Allow at least 14 days between discontinuation of an MAOI and initiation of Vortioxetine, and at least 21 days after stopping Vortioxetine before starting an MAOI.
- Use with caution when co-administered with selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), or other serotonergic drugs due to the potential for serotonin syndrome.
- The safety of Vortiox 5 during pregnancy has not been fully established. It should only be used if the potential benefit outweighs the risk to the fetus. Consult your doctor before use.
- It is not known if Vortioxetine passes into breast milk. Caution should be exercised when Vortioxetine is administered to a breastfeeding woman.
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
