Vital-C 250

Presentation: Each tablet of Vital-C 250 contains Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin C) 250 mg. It is available in blister packs or strips containing [Number] tablets, manufactured by UniMed UniHealth Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh. The tablets may be chewable.

Indications: Vital-C (Ascorbic Acid) is indicated for the prevention and treatment of Vitamin C deficiency (scurvy). It helps in healing wounds and broken bones, forming collagen in connective tissues, aiding in iron absorption and treating anemia. It contributes to the production of hemoglobin and red blood cells in the bone marrow, aids in preventing viral and bacterial infections by boosting the immune system, and helps in the treatment and prevention of the common cold. It also promotes healthy capillaries, gums, and teeth.

Dosage and Administration:

• Prevention of scurvy: 1 tablet daily.
• Treatment of scurvy: 1-2 tablets daily, or as directed by a physician; the dose may be increased depending on the severity of the condition.
• General supplementation: 1 tablet daily or as directed by a physician.

The maximum safe dose is 2000 mg daily in divided doses. The tablets can be chewed or swallowed whole with water.

Side Effects: Vital-C generally has low toxicity. High doses may cause diarrhea, abdominal bloating, and potentially harmful iron over-absorption in patients with thalassemia, sideroblastic anemia, and hemochromatosis. It may also lead to hyperoxaluria, hyperuricosuria, and hemolysis in patients with glucose-6 phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency.

Precautions: Inform your doctor if you have anemia, diabetes, glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency, or a history of kidney stones. Caution should be taken in patients on a low sodium diet. High doses during pregnancy may not be recommended.
