Unirab 20 

Presentation: Each enteric-coated capsule typically contains Rabeprazole Sodium INN 20 mg. It is usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Unirab (Rabeprazole) is a proton pump inhibitor indicated for the treatment of:  

• Active duodenal ulcer  
• Active benign gastric ulcer  
• Symptomatic erosive or ulcerative gastro-esophageal reflux disease (GERD)  
• Long-term management of GERD (GERD Maintenance)  
• Symptomatic treatment of moderate to very severe GERD (symptomatic GERD)  
• Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome  
• In combinationwith appropriate antibacterial therapeutic regimens for the eradication of Helicobacter pyloriin patients with peptic ulcerdisease.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is 20 mg once daily in the morning before food. For H. pylori eradication, it is used as part of a combination therapy, typically 20 mg twice daily for 7 days. The dosage and duration of treatment depend on the specific condition being treated and the physician's instructions. The capsules should be swallowed whole and not chewed or crushed.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include headache, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, flatulence, and constipation. Less common side effects can include dry mouth, dizziness, and skin rash. Long-term use may be associated with an increased risk of bone fractures, low magnesium levels, and vitamin B12 deficiency in some individuals.

Precautions: Unirab (Rabeprazole) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to rabeprazole or other proton pump inhibitors. Gastric malignancy should be excluded before initiating therapy. Caution should be exercised in patients with severe liver disease and during pregnancy and breastfeeding; consult your doctor before use. Rabeprazole can interact with several other medications.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
