Timem 

Presentation: Timem 50, available in Bangladesh, contains Tiemonium Methylsulfate 50 mg per tablet. It is presented as film-coated tablets for oral administration and is usually available in blister packs. Timem is a product of Silva Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications: Timem (Tiemonium Methylsulfate) is indicated as an antispasmodic drug that reduces muscle spasms of the intestine, biliary system, bladder, and uterus. It is used for the symptomatic treatment of pain related to functional disorders of the digestive tract and biliary system. It is also indicated for the treatment of spasm and pain in urological and gynecological diseases.Specific conditions include:

  • Gastroenteritis
  • Diarrhea
  • Dysentery
  • Biliary colic
  • Enterocolitis
  • Cholecystitis
  • Mild cystitis
  • Spasmodic dysmenorrhea

Dosage and Administration: The usual oral dose for adults is 2 to 6 tablets (100-300 mg) daily, divided into several doses as required. The tablets should be swallowed with water. Follow the specific instructions provided by your physician.

Side Effects: The use of Timem (Tiemonium Methylsulfate) may be associated with the risk of hypotension (low blood pressure) and tachycardia (rapid heart rate) in some individuals.

Precautions: Timem (Tiemonium Methylsulfate) should not be used in patients with:

  • Urethroprostatic disorders involving a risk of urine retention.
  • Risk of angle-closure glaucoma.

Caution should be taken during the treatment of patients with disorders of the prostate, chronic bronchitis, coronary insufficiency, ambient hyperthermia, and renal or hepatic insufficiency. The risk of visual disturbances may make it dangerous to drive or use machines.

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Animal studies have not shown teratogenic effects. However, due to limited human data, prudence should be exercised when prescribing Timem to pregnant women. While no problems have been reported with normal use during breastfeeding, caution is advised for nursing mothers. Consult a healthcare professional for guidance.

Storage: Keep in a dry place, away from light and heat. Keep out of the reach of children. Store below 30°C.
