Sitadus M ER 1000

Presentation:Extended-release tablets containing 50 mg sitagliptin and 1000 mg metformin hydrochloride.  

Indications:As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both sitagliptin and metforminis appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:   The usual dose is one tablet taken orally once daily with a meal to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin. Dosage is individualized based on current regimen and tolerability, with a maximum daily dose of 100 mg sitagliptin and 2000 mg metformin. Contraindicated in patients with eGFR below 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, flatulence, abdominal discomfort, and headache associated with metformin.Sitagliptin may cause nasopharyngitis and upper respiratory tract infection.Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.Lactic acidosis is a rare but serious side effect associated with metformin.

Precautions: Contraindicated in moderate to severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, dialysis, metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), and hypersensitivity to sitagliptin or metformin. Use with caution in patients with risk factors for lactic acidosis (e.g., excessive alcohol use, hepatic impairment, hypoxic states). Assess renal function before initiation and periodically thereafter.

Storage:Store below 30°C, in a dry place, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
