Siglita 50
Presentation: Each tablet contains sitagliptin phosphate monohydrate equivalent to 50 mg of sitagliptin.
Indications: Siglita 50 is a dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.It can be used as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabeticagents such as metformin or sulfonylureas.
Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose is 100 mg once daily. However, in patients with moderate renal impairment, the dose is 50 mg once daily. In patients with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal disease requiring hemodialysis or peritoneal dialysis, the dose is 25 mg once daily. Siglita 50 can be taken orally once daily with or without food. Dosage should be individualized based on renal function.
Side Effects: Common side effects may include upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, and headache. Hypoglycemia may occur when sitagliptin is used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas. Pancreatitis has been reported in some patients. Allergic reactions may also occur.
Precautions: Renal function should be assessed before initiating Siglita 50 and periodically thereafter. Caution is advised in patients with a history of pancreatitis. Use with insulin or sulfonylureas may increase the risk of hypoglycemia.
Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
