Rispolux 1

Presentation: Tablets containing Risperidone 1 mg. 

Indications: Treatment of acute and chronic psychoses, including schizophrenia. Also indicated for the treatment of manic episodes associated with bipolar disorder.

Dosage & Administration: Psychoses: Initially 2 mg daily (single or divided) on the first day, may increase to 4 mg on the second day. Usual range 4-6 mg daily. Elderly/hepatic/renal impairment: Initially 1 mg daily in two divided doses, may increase gradually. Mania: Initially 2 mg once daily, may increase to 1-6 mg daily. May be taken with or without food. Follow physician's instructions.

Side Effects: Common: insomnia, agitation, anxiety, headache. Less common: drowsiness, impaired concentration, fatigue, blurred vision, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, increased prolactin, urinary incontinence, rapid heartbeat, high blood pressure, edema, rash, rhinitis.

Precautions: Preexisting cardiovascular disease, discontinue if tardive dyskinesia occurs. Use caution in renal and hepatic impairment, elderly, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease, and pregnancy. May interact with levodopa, dopamine agonists, carbamazepine, and clozapine. May enhance hypotensive effects.

Storage: Do not store above 30°C. Keep away from light and out of reach of children.
