Risdon 1

Presentation: Each tablet contains Risperidone 1 mg.

Indications: Risdon is indicated for the treatment of:

• Schizophrenia in adults and adolescents 13 years and older.
• Manic or mixed episodes of bipolar disorder in adults and children 10 years and older.
• Irritability associated with autistic disorder in children and adolescents 5 to 16 years of age.

Dosage & Administration: The dosage of Risdon is individualized and depends on the condition being treated, the severity of symptoms, and the patient's response.

• Schizophrenia (Adults): The usual starting dose is 2 mg per day, which may be increased gradually by the physician to a typical maintenance dose of 4 to 6 mg per day, administered once or twice daily.
• Schizophrenia (Adolescents 13-17 years): The usual starting dose is 0.5 mg once daily, which may be gradually increased by the physician to a target dose of 3 mg per day.
• Bipolar Mania (Adults): The usual starting dose is 2 to 3 mg once daily, which may be adjusted by the physician to a target dose of 1 to 6 mg per day.
• Bipolar Mania (Children and Adolescents 10-17 years): The usual starting dose is 0.5 mg once daily, which may be gradually increased by the physician to a target dose of 1 to 6 mg per day.
• Irritability associated with Autistic Disorder (Children and Adolescents 5-16 years): The starting dose is based on the child's weight and is typically 0.25 mg or 0.5 mg once daily, which may be adjusted by the physician based on response.

Risdon tablets can be taken with or without food. Follow the physician's instructions carefully.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include drowsiness, insomnia, agitation, anxiety, headache, dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, vomiting, constipation, increased appetite, weight gain, and extrapyramidal symptoms (such as tremor, muscle stiffness, and restlessness).

Precautions: Inform your physician if you have a history of cardiovascular disease, seizures, diabetes, high cholesterol, liver or kidney problems, or Parkinson's disease. Risdon may increase blood sugar and cholesterol levels. It may also cause tardive dyskinesia (involuntary movements) and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Use caution when driving or operating machinery as Risdon may cause drowsiness and dizziness. Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Risdon. Inform your physician if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding. Elderly patients with dementia-related psychosis have an increased risk of death with antipsychotic medications, including risperidone.

Drug Interactions: Risdon may interact with several other medications. Inform your physician of all medications you are currently taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter medications, and herbal supplements. Particular cautionis advised with levodopa and dopamine agonists, carbamazepine, clozapine, and certain antihypertensive medications.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
