Picosoft 10 

Presentation:Picosoft 10 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Sodium Picosulfate 10 mg.

Indications:Picosoft (Sodium Picosulfate) is indicated for the relief of constipation of any etiology, including prolonged and recurrent constipation.It is also used for bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth, or radiological investigations.  

Dosage and Administration: Picosoft 10 mg tablets are recommended to be taken at night to produce evacuation the following morning. It is recommended to start with the lowest dose. The dose may be adjusted up to the maximum recommended dose to produce regular stools. The maximum recommended daily dose should not be exceeded.  

• Adults and children over 10 years of age:  5-10 mg (½ to 1 tablet) per day.  
• Children aged 4-10 years:2.5-5 mg (¼ to ½ tablet) per day.  
• Picosoft tablets should be swallowed with water and can be taken with or without food.  

Side Effects: Common side effects may include abdominal discomfort (including abdominal pain and cramps), diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting. Less common side effects may include dizziness, syncope, and hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., skin rash, urticaria). Prolonged excessive use may lead to fluid and electrolyte imbalance and hypokalemia.

Precautions: Picosoft is contraindicated in patients with ileus or intestinal obstruction, severe painful and/or feverish acute abdominal conditions (e.g., appendicitis) potentially associated with nausea and vomiting, acute inflammatory bowel diseases, severe dehydration,and known hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate or any other component of the product. Caution should be taken in pregnant or breastfeeding women, children, and high-risk groups such as patients with liver disease or epilepsy. The concomitant use of diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids may increase the risk of electrolyte imbalance if excessive doses are taken. Concurrent administration of antibiotics may reduce the laxative action of Picosoft.  

Storage:Keep below 30°C temperature, away from light and moisture.Keep out of the reach of children.
