Phenadryl Syrup - (10mg/5ml) contains Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride USP 10mg per 5ml.It is manufactured by The ACME Laboratories Ltd.  

Indications:

Phenadryl Syrup is indicated for the treatment of allergic conditions such as:

• Perennial and seasonal allergic rhinitis (hay fever) 
• Vasomotor rhinitis 
• Allergic conjunctivitis 
• Urticaria (hives) 
• Angioedema (swelling under the skin) 
• Allergic reactions to blood and plasma 
• Motion sickness 
• Drug-induced parkinsonism 
• Pruritic conditions (itching) 
• Anaphylaxis (severe allergic reaction) 
• Premedication for emesis (vomiting)

It is also indicated for the treatment of cough. 

Dosage and Administration:

• Adults: 2-4 teaspoonfuls (10-20 ml) 3 to 4 times daily.
• Children:
  • 6-12 years: 1-2 teaspoonfuls (5-10 ml) 3 times daily.
  • 2-6 years: ½ - 1 teaspoonful (2.5-5 ml) 2-3 times daily.
  • Up to 2 years: ¼ - ½ teaspoonful (1.25-2.5 ml) 1-3 times daily.
  • Or as directed by the physician.

Contraindications:

Phenadryl is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride.

Side Effects:

Side effects may include:

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Dryness of mouth
• Nausea
• Vomiting

Less frequent side effects may include vertigo, palpitation, blurring of vision, headache, restlessness, insomnia, and thickening of bronchial secretions.

Precautions:

Patients should be cautioned not to operate vehicles or hazardous machinery until their response to the drug has been determined, as it can cause drowsiness. Concomitant consumption of alcohol or other central nervous system (CNS) depressants will potentiate drowsiness.

Pregnancy and Lactation: 

Safety for use in pregnancy and lactation has not been established. Its use therefore in such patients should involve consideration of expected benefits and possible risks.Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride has been reported to be excreted in breast milk, and thus, use in lactating mothers is not recommended. 

Storage Conditions:

Do not store above 30°C. Keep away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
