Peranel 4 contains Perampanel at a strength of 4mg per tablet.

Indications:

Peranel (Perampanel) is an antiepileptic drug indicated for:

• Treatment of partial-onset seizureswith or without secondarily generalized seizures in patients with epilepsy from 4 years of age and older. 
• Adjunctive therapyin the treatment of primary generalized tonic-clonic seizuresin patients with epilepsy from 12 years of age and¹older.

Dosage and Administration:

Perampanel can be taken without regard to food. The dosage is as follows:

• Starting dose: 2 mg once daily at bedtime.
• The dose may be increased based on clinical response and tolerability by increments of 2 mg once daily no more frequently than at weekly intervals. 
• Recommended maintenance dosein monotherapy or adjunctive therapy for partial-onset seizures: 8 mg to 12 mg once daily at bedtime. 
• Recommended maintenance dosein adjunctive therapy for primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures: 8 mg once daily at bedtime.²  

Side Effects:

Peranel may cause side effects including:

• Dizziness
• Sleepiness (somnolence)
• Fatigue
• Irritability
• Falls
• Nausea
• Ataxia (impaired coordination)
• Balance disorder

Precautions:

Monitor for suicidal thoughts or behavior. Be aware of potential neurologic effects such as dizziness, gait disturbance, somnolence, and fatigue, which can increase the risk of falls. The effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives containing levonorgestrel may be decreased when taking Peranel at a dose of 12 mg once daily.
