Paridon 

Presentation: Each tablet of Paridon 10 contains Domperidone Maleate BP equivalent to Domperidone 10 mg.

Indications: Paridon (Domperidone) is indicated for the symptomatic relief of nausea and vomiting. It is also used for the management of upper gastrointestinal motility disorders such as:

• Sensation of fullness in the epigastrium
• Abdominal distension
• Upper abdominal pain
• Regurgitation of gastric contents
• Nausea and vomiting associated with these conditions

It can also be used to counteract the nausea and vomiting induced by dopamine agonists used in the treatment of Parkinson's disease.

Dosage and Administration: Paridon 10 tablets should be taken orally, preferably 15 to 30 minutes before meals.

• Adults and adolescents (12 years and older weighing 35 kg or more): The usual dose is one 10 mg tablet up to three times daily. The maximum daily dose is 30 mg.
• Children and adolescents (under 12 years or weighing less than 35 kg): Other formulations of domperidone, such as suspension or paediatric drops, may be more suitable. Consult a doctor for appropriate dosage based on weight.

The duration of treatment should be as short as possible and as directed by your doctor. It is generally recommended not to use domperidone regularly for prolonged periods.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Paridon (Domperidone) may include:

• Dry mouth
• Headache
• Diarrhoea

Less common side effects can include:

• Dizziness
• Drowsiness
• Anxiety
• Breast tenderness or enlargement (galactorrhoea in rare cases)
• Skin rash or itching

Rare but potentially serious side effects include irregular heartbeats (arrhythmias). If you experience any significant or persistent side effects, especially palpitations or fainting, consult your doctor immediately.

Precautions: Paridon (Domperidone) is contraindicated in patients with:

• Known hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients.
• Pituitary gland tumour (prolactinoma).
• Severe liver disease.
• Certain heart conditions or electrolyte imbalances that can increase the risk of heart rhythm disorders.
• Gastrointestinal haemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation.

Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney problems and in the elderly. Domperidone can interact with several other medications, potentially increasing the risk of heart problems. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements.  

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Paridon should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Domperidone passes into breast milk in small amounts and may affect the newborn. Breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment with Paridon. Consult your doctor for advice.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
