N-Aspa 

Presentation:N-Aspa, available in Bangladesh, contains Drotaverine Hydrochloride 40 mgper tablet.It is usually available in blister packs.N-Aspa is a product of Albion Laboratories Ltd.  

Indications: N-Aspa (Drotaverine Hydrochloride) is indicated for the relief of spasms of smooth muscles associated with:

• Gastrointestinal tract disorders, including irritable bowel syndrome (IBS).
• Biliary colic and spastic conditions of the biliary tract (e.g., cholecystolithiasis, cholecystitis, cholangitis).
• Renal colic and spastic conditions of the urogenital tract (e.g., nephrolithiasis, ureterolithiasis, pyelitis, cystitis).
• Uterine spasm, including dysmenorrhea and imminent abortion.

Dosage and Administration: The usual oral dosage for adults is 1 to 2 tablets (40-80 mg) three times daily.

For children over 6 years, the usual dose is ½ to 1 tablet (20-40 mg) one to two times daily.4

The tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.5 Follow your doctor's specific instructions regarding dosage and duration of treatment.

Side Effects: Common side effects of N-Aspa (Drotaverine Hydrochloride) may include:

• Nausea  
• Vomiting  
• Dryness of the mouth  
• Vertigo (dizziness)  
• Headache  
• Drowsiness
• Palpitation  
• Decrease in blood pressure  

Less common side effects may include allergic reactions.

Precautions:N-Aspa (Drotaverine Hydrochloride) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to Drotaverine or any of the excipients.Caution should be exercised in patients with:

• Severe hepatic or renal impairment.
• Heart disease.
• Low blood pressure.
• Glaucoma.
• Prostatic enlargement.

The use of N-Aspa may affect the action of levodopa.Concurrent use with other antispasmodics, analgesics, or benzodiazepines may have additive effects.Caution should be observed while driving or operating machinery as N-Aspa may cause dizziness.  

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: The use of Drotaverine Hydrochloride should be avoided during pregnancy and lactation unless considered essential by the physician. Consult your doctor for specific advice.

Storage: Store below 25°C in a dry place, protected from light and excessive heat. Keep out of reach of children.
