Moxibac 400 is a tablet containing 400 mg of Moxifloxacin. Moxifloxacin is a broad-spectrum fluoroquinolone antibiotic used to treat various bacterial infections. Moxibac 400 is manufactured by Popular Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

Indications:

Moxibac 400 is indicated for the treatment of the following infections in adults (18 years and older) caused by susceptible bacteria: 

• Acute bacterial sinusitis 
• Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis 
• Community-acquired pneumonia 
• Uncomplicatedskin and skin structure infections 
• Complicated skin and skin structure infections 
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections 
• Pelvic inflammatory disease

Dosage and Administration:

The usual dose of Moxifloxacin is 400 mg once daily. The duration of treatment depends on the type of infection:

• Acute bacterial sinusitis: 400 mg once daily for 7-10 days. 
• Acute bacterial exacerbation of chronic bronchitis: 400 mg once daily for 5-10 days. 
• Community-acquired pneumonia: 400 mg once daily for 7-14 days. 
• Uncomplicated skin and skin structure infections:400mg once daily for 7 days. 
• Complicated skin and skin structure infections: 400 mg once daily for 7-21 days. 
• Complicated intra-abdominal infections:400 mg once daily for 5-14 days. 
• Pelvic inflammatory disease:400 mg once daily for 14 days.

Moxibac 400 tablets should be swallowed whole and can be taken with or without food.

Contraindications:

Moxibac 400 is contraindicated in patients with a known hypersensitivity to moxifloxacin or other quinolone antibiotics.

Side Effects:

Common side effects of Moxibac 400 may include:

• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Headache
• Dizziness

Serious side effects can occur, including:

• Tendon problems: Pain, swelling, or tearing of tendons. The risk is higher in older adults, those taking corticosteroids, and those with a history of tendon disorders.
• Nerve damage (peripheral neuropathy): Numbness, tingling, pain, or weakness in the arms or legs. This may be permanent.
• Central nervous system effects: Seizures, tremors, dizziness, lightheadedness, anxiety, confusion, hallucinations, depression, and suicidal thoughts.
• Heart rhythm problems (QT prolongation): Irregular heartbeat, fainting, or sudden death.
• Liver problems: Yellowing of the skin or eyes, dark urine, pale stools, stomach pain.
• Severe allergic reactions: Rash, hives, swelling, difficulty breathing.
• Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea (CDAD): Severe diarrhea, sometimes with fever and abdominal pain.
• Increased risk of aortic aneurysm and dissection: Sudden, severe pain in the abdomen, chest, or back.
• Photosensitivity: Increased sensitivity to sunlight.

Precautions:

Before taking Moxibac 400, inform your doctor if you have:

• A history of tendon problems
• Nerve problems
• Seizures or epilepsy
• Heart problems or a family history of heart rhythm issues
• Liver or kidney disease
• Diabetes
• Low potassium levels
• Myasthenia gravis
• Aortic aneurysm or risk factors for it

Moxibac 400 may interact with other medications. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking.

Use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally not recommended.
