Mitadip 30 Tablet

Generic Name: Mirtazapine

Strength: Available in 30 mg tablets.

Indications:

Mitadip is indicated for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD).

Dosage and Administration:

• The usual starting dose for adults is 15 mg or 30 mg once daily, preferably in the evening before sleep.
• Dosage may be increased gradually, usually at intervals of 1 to 2 weeks, up to a maximum dose of 45 mg per day.
• Dosage adjustments should be made based on clinical response and tolerability, as directed by your doctor.
• Mitadip tablets should be swallowed whole with water and can be taken with or without food.
• The duration of treatment should be sufficient to relieve symptoms, and maintenance therapy may be considered to prevent relapse.

Contraindications:

• Hypersensitivity to mirtazapine or any of the excipients.
• Concomitant use with monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) or within 14 days of discontinuing an MAOI.

Side Effects:

• Very Common: Increased appetite and weight gain, somnolence (drowsiness), headache, dry mouth.
• Common: Lethargy, dizziness, tremor, confusion, anxiety, insomnia.
• Less Common: Orthostatic hypotension, nausea, diarrhea, vomiting, rash.
• Rare: Seizures, mania, bone marrow depression (presenting as fever, sore throat, mouth ulcers, easy bruising or bleeding).

Precautions:

• Suicidal Thoughts and Behavior: Monitor patients of all ages who are started on antidepressant therapy for worsening of depression and the emergence of suicidal thoughts and behaviors.
• Use with caution in patients with a history of mania or hypomania, seizures, cardiovascular disease, hepatic or renal impairment, or angle-closure glaucoma.
• May cause significant weight gain.
• May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery due to drowsiness.
• Avoid alcohol consumption as it can increase the sedative effects.
• Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, as interactions may occur (e.g., with other antidepressants, benzodiazepines, warfarin).
• Discontinuation of mirtazapine should be gradual to minimize potential withdrawal symptoms.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus.
• Lactation: Mirtazapine is excreted in breast milk. Caution should be exercised when administering to a nursing woman.

Storage:

• Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light.
• Keep out of reach of children.
