Maxpro MUPS 40 is a tablet containing 40 mg of Esomeprazolein a Multiple Unit Pellet System (MUPS) formulation.Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) that reduces the amount of acid produced in the stomach.
Indications:
Maxpro MUPS 40 is indicated for the treatment and management of various conditions related to excessive stomach acid, including:
- Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), including symptomatic relief and healing of erosive esophagitis.
- Maintenance of healing of erosive esophagitis.
- Risk reduction of NSAID-associated gastric ulcers.
- Helicobacter pylorieradication (as part of a triple therapy).
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretion.
- Duodenal and gastric ulcers.
- Acid-related dyspepsia.
Dosage and Administration:
The dosage of Maxpro MUPS 40 depends on the specific condition being treated and the doctor's recommendations. General dosage guidelines are as follows:
- Erosive Esophagitis:20 mg or 40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
- Maintenance of Healing of Erosive Esophagitis:20 mg once daily.
- Symptomatic GERD:20 mg once daily for 4 weeks, with a possible additional 4 weeks if symptoms persist.
- Risk Reduction of NSAID-Associated Gastric Ulcer:20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
- H. pylori eradication: 20 mg twice daily for 7-10 days as part of a triple therapy with antibiotics.
- Zollinger-Ellison Syndrome: Starting dose is usually 40 mg twice daily, adjusted based on acid output.
- Duodenal Ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 2-4 weeks.
- Gastric Ulcer: 20-40 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks.
Administration:
- Maxpro MUPS 40 tablets should be swallowed whole with a glass of water, at least one hour before a meal.
- Do not chew or crush the tablets.
- For patients who have difficulty swallowing, the tablet can be dispersed in a small amount of non-carbonated water. Stir until the pellets are dispersed and drink immediately. Rinse the glass with more water and swallow to ensure the entire dose is taken.
Important Considerations:
- Inform your doctor about any liver problems, as dose adjustments may be necessary.
- Long-term use of PPIs like esomeprazole may increase the risk of bone fractures, vitamin B12 deficiency, and low magnesium levels.
