Marzev 25 

Presentation: Marzev 25 Tablet contains Omarigliptin 25 mg as the active pharmaceutical ingredient and is available in blister packs for oral administration.

Indications: Marzev is indicated for the treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus to improve glycemic control. It can be used as monotherapy or as an add-on therapy in patients whose blood sugar is not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone or with other antidiabetic medications. Omarigliptin belongs to a class of drugs called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitors.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended dose of Marzev is 25 mg taken orally once weekly, either as monotherapy or as add-on therapy to other antidiabetic agents to optimize glycemic control. If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as possible, and the regular weekly dosing schedule should then be followed. Two doses should not be taken at the same time. The dosage may need to be adjusted in patients with severe renal impairment or end-stage renal failure requiring dialysis, according to specific guidelines. The safety and efficacy in children and adolescents have not been established.

Side Effects: The adverse effects of Marzev are generally well tolerated. The most common side effects reported include nasopharyngitis (common cold), hypoglycemia (low blood sugar, especially when used with other antidiabetic drugs like insulin or sulfonylureas), constipation, diarrhea, other gastrointestinal issues, and skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders.

Precautions: Marzev is contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to omarigliptin or any of its components, severe ketosis, diabetic coma or precoma in type 1 diabetes, and severe infections where glycemic control is desired via insulin injection, as well as before and after surgery and in patients with severe trauma. It should be used with caution in patients who may be more susceptible to hypoglycemia, such as those with pituitary dysfunction, adrenal insufficiency, malnutrition, irregular dietary intake, or those engaged in intense muscle movement or with excessive alcohol intake. Caution is advised for patients operating vehicles or machinery.

Storage: Store Marzev 25 tablets in a cool (below 30°C) and dry place, protected from light. Keep out of the reach of children.
