Lyric CR 165 Tablet

Generic Name: Pregabalin

Strength: Available in 165 mg extended-release tablets.

Indications:

• Postherpetic Neuralgia (PHN): Management of postherpetic neuralgia, a type of nerve pain that can occur after shingles.
• Neuropathic Pain Associated with Diabetic Peripheral Neuropathy (DPN): Management of nerve pain caused by diabetes.

Dosage and Administration:

• Dosage should be individualized by a physician.
• Lyric CR is taken orally once daily.
• Swallow the tablet whole with water. Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet.
• It can be taken with or without food.
• The starting dose for postherpetic neuralgia is typically 75 mg once daily and may be increased to 165 mg once daily within one week based on efficacy and tolerability.
• The starting dose for neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy is typically 50 mg once daily and may be increased to 100 mg once daily within one week. The dose may be further increased to 165 mg once daily over an additional week based on efficacy and tolerability.
• The maximum recommended dose is 330 mg once daily for both conditions.
• If a dose is missed, it should be taken as soon as remembered unless it is close to the time for the next dose. In that case, the missed dose should be skipped, and the regular dosing schedule resumed.

Contraindications:

• Known hypersensitivity to pregabalin or any of the excipients in the formulation.

Side Effects:

• Common: Dizziness, somnolence, headache, dry mouth, blurred vision, weight gain, peripheral edema (swelling of the hands and feet), difficulty with concentration/attention.
• Less Common: Increased appetite, euphoria, confusion, irritability, ataxia, fatigue.
• Serious: Angioedema (swelling of the face, mouth, tongue, throat), hypersensitivity reactions (e.g., rash, hives, difficulty breathing), suicidal thoughts or behavior, respiratory depression (especially when combined with other CNS depressants).

Precautions:

• Use with caution in patients with a history of angioedema.
• May cause dizziness and somnolence and impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
• Use with caution in patients with pre-existing heart failure.
• May cause peripheral edema.
• Increased seizure frequency may occur if Lyric CR is rapidly discontinued. It should be withdrawn gradually over a minimum of 1 week.
• Monitor patients for the emergence or worsening of depression, suicidal thoughts, or unusual changes in mood or behavior.
• Use with caution in patients with renal impairment; dosage adjustment is recommended.

Use in Pregnancy & Lactation:

• Pregnancy: Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception.
• Lactation: Pregabalin is excreted in human milk. A decision should be made whether to discontinue breastfeeding or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of the drug to the mother.

Storage:

• Store below 25°C (77°F).
• Protect from moisture.
• Keep out of reach of children.
