Linatin M 500 

Presentation:Linatin M 500 Tablet, available in Bangladesh, contains Linagliptin 2.5 mg and Metformin Hydrochloride 500 mg.It is presented as a film-coated tablet for oral administration and is usually available in blister packs.

Indications:Linatin M is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellituswhen treatment with both linagliptin and metforminis appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:The dosageof Linatin M should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability. It is usually administered twice daily with meals to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.

• For patients not currently treated with metformin: Initiate treatment with one tablet of Linatin M (2.5 mg linagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride) twice daily.
• For patients already treated with metformin: Start with one tablet of Linatin M (2.5 mg linagliptin/500 mg metformin hydrochloride) twice daily, maintaining the same total daily dose of metformin.
• Patients already treated with linagliptin and metformin as separate tablets may be switched to Linatin M containing the same doses of each component.  
• The maximum recommended daily dose is linagliptin 5 mg and metformin 2000 mg.

Side Effects:Common side effects may include headache, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, and skin rash.Gastrointestinal side effects due to metformin, such as diarrhea and upset stomach, may also occur, particularly at the start of treatment.Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur when Linatin M is used in combination with other diabetes medications like insulin or sulfonylureas.  

Precautions:Linatin M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), acute or chronic metabolic acidosis (including diabetic ketoacidosis), or a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to linagliptin or metformin.It is not recommended for use in patients with type 1 diabetes mellitus. Caution should be exercised in patients with moderate renal impairment, heart failure, liver disease, and excessive alcohol intake due to the risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin.

Storage: Store Linatin M 500 tablets below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
