Laxante 10 

Presentation:Each tablet contains Sodium Picosulfate BP 10 mg.

Indications: Laxante (Sodium Picosulfate) is indicated for:

• Constipation of any etiology.  
• Relief from prolonged & recurrent constipation.  
• Bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth, or radiological investigations.  

Dosage and Administration: Laxante tablets should be swallowed whole with water. It is usually taken as a single dose at night to produce a bowel movement the following morning.

• Adults and children over 10 years: 5-10 mg (½ to 1 tablet) at night. For bowel clearance before procedures, higher doses may be required under medical supervision.
• Children 4-10 years: 2.5-5 mg (¼ to ½ tablet) at night.
• Children under 4 years: Not recommended except under medical advice.

The lowest effective dose should be used, and the duration of treatment should be limited to the shortest period necessary to produce a comfortable bowel movement. Prolonged daily use of laxatives is not recommended.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include abdominal cramps, abdominal pain, diarrhoea, and nausea. Prolonged or excessive use may lead to electrolyte imbalance, particularly hypokalemia.

Precautions: Laxante (Sodium Picosulfate) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to sodium picosulfate or any of its excipients, intestinal obstruction, ileus, severe abdominal pain associated with nausea and vomiting, conditions such as appendicitis, inflammatory bowel disease, and severe dehydration. It should be used with caution in pregnant or breastfeeding women and in patients with kidney disease.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: While animal studies have not shown teratogenic effects, it is generally recommended to avoid Laxante during the first trimester of pregnancy. Use during the second and third trimesters should be under medical advice. It is not known if sodium picosulfate is excreted in breast milk; therefore, caution should be exercised when administering to breastfeeding women.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
