Kolosal IV 1000ml 

Presentation: Sterile intravenous infusion solution in a 1000 ml bag, typically containing Sodium Chloride, Potassium Chloride, and Sodium Acetate in Water for Injections.

Ingredients: Each 100 ml solution usually contains Sodium Chloride BP 0.5 g, Potassium Chloride BP 0.1 g, and Sodium Acetate BP 0.393 g. The solution contains per litreapproximately Sodium 134 mmol, Potassium 13 mmol, Chloride 99 mmol, and Acetate 48 mmol.

Indications: Indicated for replenishing and restoring normal electrolyte balance in conditions with electrolyte depletion such as cholera, diarrhea, vomiting, and excessive sweating.

Dosage & Administration: The volume and rate of infusion depend on the patient's requirements, age, weight, clinical condition, and the physician's judgment. It is administered intravenously using sterile equipment. The infusion rate should be adjusted as per the patient's needs.

Side Effects: Possible side effects include severe burning, pain, or swelling around the IV needle, warmth, redness, oozing, or bleeding at the insertion site, fever, and ongoing cough. Malaise, low-grade fever, headache, widespread aches and pains, flushing, generalized urticaria, tachycardia, and hypotension may also occur. Injection site reactions like erythema, swelling, soreness, tenderness, and induration are possible.

Precautions: Use with caution in patients where electrolyte imbalance may cause detrimental effects, such as in pregnancy, renal impairment, heart failure, pulmonary congestion, and head injury. Also, exercise caution in patients receiving potassium-sparing diuretics.

Storage: Store at controlled room temperature. Check the infusion set and solution before use; the solution should be clear and the container undamaged.
