Kindical DX

Presentation: Tablets containing Calcium Carbonate (derived from a natural source, potentially oyster shell or another marine source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) 200 IU. The "DX" often indicates the inclusion of Vitamin D in a calcium supplement. The tablets are intended for oral administration. The appearance may vary depending on the manufacturer and what is available in Bangladesh.

Indications: Kindical DX is indicated for the prevention and treatment of calcium and Vitamin D deficiency. It is used in conditions such as osteoporosis (weak and brittle bones), osteomalacia (softening of the bones), and rickets (a bone disorder in children). It may also be recommended as a supplement to ensure adequate intake of calcium and Vitamin D, especially in the elderly, individuals with limited sun exposure, pregnant and breastfeeding women, and those with dietary restrictions.

Dosage and Administration: The usual adult dose is one tablet once or twice daily, preferably with or after a meal to enhance calcium absorption, or as directed by a physician. The dosage for children should be determined by a doctor based on age and specific needs. The tablets should be swallowed whole with water.

Side Effects: Generally well-tolerated when taken as directed. Mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation or stomach upset may occur in some individuals. High doses of calcium can lead to hypercalcemia (high levels of calcium in the blood), with symptoms like nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain, but this is less likely with standard doses.

Precautions: Use with caution in individuals with hypercalcemia (high calcium levels), hypercalciuria (high levels of calcium in the urine), kidney stones, or kidney disease. Consult a physician before use if you have hyperparathyroidism, sarcoidosis, or are taking other medications, especially cardiac glycosides (e.g., digoxin) or thiazide diuretics, as interactions may occur.
