Overview & Pharmacology

KetoDruff is an antifungal medication that works by inhibiting ergosterol synthesis in fungal cell membranes, increasing cellular permeability and causing toxic metabolite buildup.

Formulations, Indications & Usage

1. Shampoo (2%)

  • Indications: Seborrheic dermatitis, pityriasis capitis (dandruff), localized pityriasis versicolor.
  • Usage: Wet area, lather, leave for 5 minutes, then rinse.
    • Treatment: Seborrheic dermatitis/dandruff (2x/week for 2–4 weeks); Pityriasis versicolor (1x/day for 5 days).
    • Prevention: Seborrheic dermatitis/dandruff (once every 1–2 weeks); Pityriasis versicolor (1x/day for 3 days before summer).

2. Cream (2%)

  • Indications: Skin fungal infections (Tinea pedis, tinea corporis, tinea cruris, tinea versicolor), cutaneous candidiasis, and seborrheic dermatitis.
  • Usage: Apply to affected area 1–2 times daily until symptoms resolve (Tinea pedis: 1+ weeks; Tinea versicolor: 2–3 weeks; Tinea corporis: 3–4 weeks).

3. Medicated Bar

  • Indications: General body fungus.
  • Usage: Lather over the body, leave for 4–5 minutes, and rinse.

4. Oral Tablet (200 mg)

  • Indications: Severe, deep, or systemic fungal infections, or when topical treatment fails.
  • Dosage:
    • Vaginal Candidiasis: 1 tablet twice daily for 5 days.
    • Other Indications: Adults: 1 tablet daily. Children: 3–5 mg/kg daily.

Safety & Precautions

  • Drug Interactions: Topical forms have no known interactions. Antacids, H2 blockers, and PPIs reduce oral tablet absorption.
  • Contraindications: Known hypersensitivity to ketoconazole.
  • Pregnancy & Lactation: Topical forms (shampoo/cream) are safe. Oral tablets should not be used while breastfeeding.
  • Key Precautions: Avoid contact with eyes. Monitor liver function if using oral tablets long-term; stop immediately if jaundice or liver symptoms appear. Always consult a registered physician before use.
