Isperlax Container

Presentation:Isperlax Container, available in Bangladesh, contains Ispaghula Husk (Psyllium), typically 100 grams of powder or granules in a container.Ispaghula husk is a natural, bulk-forming laxative derived from the seeds of Plantago ovata.  

Indications: Isperlax (Ispaghula Husk) is indicated for the relief of constipation. It works by absorbing water in the intestines, which increases the bulk of the stool and promotes bowel movements.It may also be used for:

• Managing Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS).  
• Helping to lower cholesterol levels.  
• Providing relief from hemorrhoids or piles.  
• Helping to regulate blood glucose levels.  

Dosage and Administration:Isperlax Container is for oral administration.The powder or granules should be mixed with a sufficient amount of water or other liquid (at least a full glass) before consumption.

• Adults and children over 12 years: Usually 1 spoonful (approximately 5-7 grams, depending on the product's measuring spoon) with water 1-3 times daily, or as directed by a physician. A common recommendation is 1 spoonful twice daily.
• Children 6 to 12 years:½ to 1 spoonful with water depending on age and weight, once or twice daily.  
• It is important to drink plenty of fluids when taking Ispaghula Husk.Consuming the dry husk without adequate liquid can cause it to swell in the throat, leading to choking or obstruction.  

Side Effects: Common side effects of Isperlax (Ispaghula Husk) may include:

• Flatulence (gas).  
• Abdominal distension (bloating).
• Gastrointestinal obstruction (rare, usually due to insufficient fluid intake).  

Rarely, allergic reactions may occur. If you experience any difficulty breathing, chest pain, vomiting, or trouble swallowing after taking Isperlax, seek immediate medical attention.

Precautions: Isperlax (Ispaghula Husk) is contraindicated in patients with:

• Gastrointestinal tract obstruction or conditions that could lead to obstruction.  
• Difficulty swallowing.  

Caution should be exercised in patients with:

• Phenylketonuria (some formulations may contain aspartame).
• A sudden change in bowel habits lasting longer than two weeks.
• Undiagnosed abdominal pain.

Ispaghula husk may interact with the absorption of other medications.Therefore, it is advisable to take Isperlax at least 30 minutes to one hour before or after taking other oral medications.

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: While generally considered safe, it is important to consult a doctor before using Isperlax during pregnancy. It is considered safe for use during lactation.
