Ipical 500

Presentation: Each tablet of Ipical 500 typically contains Calcium Carbonate BP 1250 mg equivalent to 500 mg of elemental calcium. It is available in blister packs containing strips of tablets, with the number of tablets per pack determined by the manufacturer in Bangladesh (e.g., Ibn Sina Pharmaceutical Industry PLC).

Indications: Ipical (Calcium Carbonate) is indicated for:

• Treatment and prevention of calcium deficiency.
• Increased calcium requirements during pregnancy and lactation.
• Calcium supplementation in children and adolescents during periods of rapid growth.
• Inadequate dietary intake of calcium due to malnutrition.
• Prevention and treatment of osteoporosis.
• Disorders of osteogenesis and tooth development.
• Management of hyperacidity, providing fast relief from acid indigestion, heartburn, sour stomach, and upset stomach (at higher doses, potentially using a different formulation).

Dosage and Administration: The dosage should be determined by a registered medical practitioner based on the individual's needs and the condition being treated.

• Adults: Typically, one tablet daily or as directed by the physician for general calcium supplementation. For osteoporosis prevention, 1-3 tablets daily may be recommended. For antacid use (if applicable to the specific formulation), follow the instructions provided on the packaging or as directed by a physician.
• Adolescents: 1-2 tablets daily.
• Children: One tablet daily.

The tablets are administered orally. It is advisable to follow the physician's instructions regarding the timing of the dose, especially in relation to meals and other medications.

Side Effects: Calcium supplements are generally safe and well-tolerated. However, some individuals may experience mild gastrointestinal disturbances such as constipation, flatulence, nausea, gastric pain, or diarrhea.

Calcium may interact with certain medications, including digoxin, antacids containing aluminum or magnesium, other calcium or Vitamin D supplements, and some antibiotics (e.g., tetracyclines).
