Glipita M XR 500

Presentation:Extended-release tablets containing 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride and 50 mg of sitagliptin.

Indications:Glipita M XR 500 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with bothsitagliptin and metformin is appropriate.  

Dosage and Administration:   The dosage of Glipita M XR 500 should be individualized based on the patient's current regimen, effectiveness, and tolerability, not exceeding the maximum recommendeddaily dose of 100 mg sitagliptin and 2000 mg metformin. It is usually administered orally once daily with a meal, preferably in the evening. Gradual dose escalation is recommended to reduce gastrointestinal side effects associated with metformin.  

Side Effects:Common side effects may include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, upset stomach, headache, and upper respiratory tract infection.Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar) may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.Less common but potentially serious side effects can occur. Report any persistent or troublesome side effects to your doctor.

Precautions:

• Inform your doctor about any pre-existing medical conditions, especially kidney disease, liver disease, heart failure, pancreatitis, or a history of allergic reactions to sitagliptin or metformin.
• Glipita M XR 500 should not be used in patients with type 1 diabetes or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis. 
• Caution is advised whenusing Glipita M XR 500 in combination with other antidiabetic medications due to the increased risk of hypoglycemia. Dose adjustments of concomitant insulin secretagogues (e.g., sulfonylureas) or insulin may be necessary.
• Assess renal function before initiating Glipita M XR 500 and periodically thereafter. Use is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment.
• Be aware of the risk of lactic acidosis associated with metformin, especially in patients with renal impairment, heart failure, or dehydration.
• Discontinue Glipita M XR 500 if pancreatitis is suspected.
• Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, as Glipita M XR 500 may not be suitable in these situations.
• Be aware of potential drug interactions and inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and herbal supplements.  

Storage:   Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
