Gavista DX 

Presentation: Gavista DX is an oral suspension. Each 10 ml of the suspension typically contains Sodium Alginate BP 500 mg, Sodium Bicarbonate BP 213 mg, and Calcium Carbonate BP 325 mg. Gavista DX is a product of Ziska Pharmaceuticals Ltd. in Bangladesh and is usually available in bottles of 100 ml or 200 ml.

Indications: Gavista DX is indicated for the relief of symptoms associated with gastric reflux, such as:

• Heartburn
• Indigestion
• Flatulence associated with gastric reflux
• Heartburn during pregnancy
• Epigastric and retrosternal distress where the underlying cause is gastric reflux.

Dosage and Administration: Gavista DX is for oral administration. Shake the bottle well before each use.

• Adults and children over 12 years:Take 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.  
• Children 6 to 12 years:Take 5-10 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.  
• Children under 6 years:Not recommended.  
• Elderly:No dosageadjustment is usually needed.

A time interval of 2 hours should be observed between taking Gavista DX and other medications, especially tetracyclines, digoxin, fluoroquinolones, iron salts, ketoconazole, neuroleptics, thyroid hormones, penicillamine, and beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol).

Side Effects: In addition to its intended effects, Gavista DX may cause some side effects, including:

• Constipation
• Flatulence
• Stomach cramps
• Belching If an excessive dose is taken, a sensation of swelling may occur. If any of these symptoms persist or become bothersome, consult a physician. Allergic reactions, such as urticaria or bronchospasm, and anaphylactic or anaphylactoid reactions, are also possible.

Precautions: Gavista DX should not be used in patients with a known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any of the excipients.Caution should be taken in patients on a highly restricted salt diet, as each 10 ml dose contains a significant amount of sodium. Care should also be taken in patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi, as each 10 ml dose contains calcium carbonate.

If symptoms do not improve after 7 days, the clinical situation should be reviewed. Gavista DX may mask the symptoms of other, more serious underlying conditions.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Clinical studies involving pregnant women and post-marketing data have not shown evidence of malformation or foetal/neonatal toxicity. Gavista DX can be used during pregnancy when clinically necessary. No adverse effects have been observed in breastfed newborns/infants of mothers undergoing treatment, and it is considered safe for use during breastfeeding.

Storage: Store in a cool (below 30°C) and dry place, away from light. Do not refrigerate or freeze. Keep out of the reach of children.
