G-Calbo 

Presentation: Film-coated tablets available in HDPE containers of 30 tablets. Available in strengths of 500mg elemental Calcium with 200 IU Vitamin D3, and 600mg elemental Calcium with 400 IU Vitamin D3 (G-Calbo DX). Manufactured by Square Pharmaceuticals PLC in Bangladesh.

Ingredients:

• G-Calbo (500mg + 200 IU): Calcium Carbonate (from Algae source) BP 1250 mg equivalent to elemental Calcium 500 mg, and Cholecalciferol USP equivalent to Vitamin D3 200 IU.
• G-Calbo DX (600mg + 400 IU): Calcium Carbonate (from Algae source) BP equivalent to elemental Calcium 600 mg, and Vitamin D3 USP 400 IU.

Indications: Used for the treatment and prevention of:

• Osteoporosis
• Osteomalacia
• Rickets
• Tetany
• Hypoparathyroidism
• Increased Calcium and Vitamin D3 demand during pregnancy and lactation.
• Supplementation in kidney disease and pancreatitis.
• During therapy with antiseizure medications.
• Prevention and treatment of Calcium and Vitamin D3 deficiency.

Dosage & Administration:

• Adults: Usually 1 tablet in the morning and 1 tablet at night, or as directed by a physician.
• It is best taken with or just after a meal to improve absorption.

Side Effects: Orally administered Calcium Carbonate may cause irritation to the gastrointestinal tract and constipation. Rarely, hypercalcemia may occur, especially in patients with chronic renal failure on high doses. Other possible side effects include irregular heartbeat, nausea, dry mouth, weakness, headache, metallic taste, muscle or bone pain, drowsiness, and skin rash.

Precautions: Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria, metastatic calcification, hyperparathyroidism, Vitamin D3 overdosage, severe renal failure, and hypersensitivity to any component. Caution should be taken in patients with mild to moderate renal impairment, sarcoidosis, and a history of renal stones. Monitor serum and urinary calcium levels and kidney function during long-term treatment. Not recommended for children under 12 years.

Storage: Store below 30°C and away from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
