💊 Fexofast (Fexofenadine Hydrochloride)

Fexofast is a non-sedating antihistamine used to relieve allergy symptoms. Unlike older antihistamines, it does not easily cross the blood-brain barrier, making it unlikely to cause drowsiness.

📋 Primary Indications

• Allergic Rhinitis: Relieves sneezing, runny nose, itchy/watery eyes, and itchy throat.

• Chronic Urticaria: Reduces skin itching and the number of wheals (hives).

🥄 Dosage & Administration

Adults & Children (12+ years):

• Tablets: 60 mg twice daily OR 120 mg once daily OR 180 mg once daily.

• Renal Impairment: 60 mg once daily.

Children (6–11 years):

• Tablets: 30 mg twice daily OR 60 mg once daily.

Children (6 months – 5 years):

• Suspension: 15 mg (2.5 ml) to 30 mg (5 ml) twice daily depending on age.

⚠️ Safety & side effects

• Common Side Effects: Headache, drowsiness, dizziness, and nausea.

• Antacid Interaction: 🛑 Do not take antacids containing aluminum or magnesium within 2 hours of Fexofast, as they reduce its effectiveness.

• Heart Health: Patients with a history of cardiovascular disease should be aware that antihistamines may rarely cause palpitations or a fast heartbeat.

• Pregnancy & Lactation: Use during pregnancy only if clearly necessary. It is not recommended for breastfeeding mothers.

🚗 Driving & Machines

Fexofast is generally non-sedating and unlikely to affect your ability to drive. However, it is best to check your individual response before performing tasks that require concentration.
