Ertu 5

Presentation: Each Ertu 5 tablet contains 5 mg of ertugliflozin. 

Indications: Ertu 5 is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommended starting doseof Ertu 5 is 5 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating Ertu 5 mg once daily who require additional glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 15 mg once daily. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation of Ertu 5 and as clinically indicated thereafter. Ertu 5 is not recommended in patients with an eGFR less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m² and is contraindicated in patients on dialysis.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include female genital mycotic infections, volume depletion, and increased urination. Other possible side effects include nasopharyngitis. Hypoglycemia may occur when Ertu 5 is used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues. Ketoacidosis is a rare but serious potential side effect.

Precautions: Ertu 5 is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (eGFR < 30 mL/min/1.73 m²), end-stage renal disease, or dialysis, and in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to ertugliflozin. Before initiating Ertu 5, assess and correct volume status in patients with renal impairment, low systolic blood pressure, elderly patients, or those on diuretics. Monitor for signs and symptoms of urinary tract infections and treat promptly if indicated. Consider risk factors for ketoacidosis before initiating treatment.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
