Empazin M 500

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 5 mg of empagliflozin and 500 mg of metformin hydrochloride.

Indications:Empazin M is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control:  

• In patients insufficiently controlled on their maximally tolerated dose of metformin alone.  
• In combination with other medicinal products for the treatment of diabetes, in patients insufficiently controlled with metformin and these medicinal products.  
• In patients already being treated with the combination of empagliflozin and metformin as separate tablets.  

Dosageand Administration: The dosage should be individualized based on effectiveness and tolerability. The usual starting dose is one tablet twice daily with meals. Dose escalation should be gradual to reduce the gastrointestinal side effects due to metformin hydrochloride.The maximum recommended daily dose of metformin hydrochloride is 2000 mg and empagliflozin is 25 mg.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and urinary tract infections. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or sulfonylureas.

Precautions:Empazin M is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including diabetic ketoacidosis,and known hypersensitivity toempagliflozin or metformin hydrochloride.Assess renal function before initiating and during therapy. Use with caution in patients with risk factors for ketoacidosis.

Storage:Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture.Keep out of reach of children.
