Empazin 25

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet of Empazin 25 contains 25 mg of empagliflozin.

Indications: Empazin (empagliflozin) is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:  

• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.  
• To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adultpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommendedstarting dose of Empazin is 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating this dose and requiring additional glycemic control, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily. In patients with volume depletion, correcting this condition prior to initiation of Empazinis recommended. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation of Empazin and periodically thereafter. Empazin should not be initiated if eGFR is below 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects: The most common side effects associated with Empazin are:

• Urinary tract infections
• Female genital mycotic infections

Other common side effects may include dehydration, low blood pressure, weakness, dizziness, and increased thirst.

Precautions: Empazin is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin or any of its ingredients, severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, ordialysis. It is not recommended for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus or diabetic ketoacidosis.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
