Empadus 10

Presentation: Each tablet contains empagliflozin 10 mg.

Indications: Empadus is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:  

• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control. 
• To reduce the risk of cardiovascular deathin patients with established cardiovascular disease.

Dosage and Administration: The recommended starting dose is 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating Empadus, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily. Assess renal function prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Correct volume depletion before starting Empadus.

Side Effects: Common side effects may include urinary tract infections and female genital mycotic infections. Other possible side effects include increased urination, thirst, nausea, and dehydration. Hypoglycemia may occur when used in combination with insulin or insulin secretagogues.

Precautions: Empadus is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or those on dialysis. It should not be initiated in patients with an eGFR < 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Assess and correct volume status before initiating therapy. Monitor for signs and symptoms of urinary tract infections and genital mycotic infections.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a cool and dry place, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
