Emjard 25

Presentation: Each film-coated tablet contains 25 mg of empagliflozin.

Indications: Emjard is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus:  

• As an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control.  
• To reduce the risk of cardiovascular death in adultpatients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease.  

Dosage and Administration:The recommended dose of Emjardis 10 mg once daily, taken in the morning, with or without food. In patients tolerating Emjard 10 mg, the dose may be increased to 25 mg once daily for additional glycemic control.

In patients with volume depletion, correcting this condition prior to initiation of Emjard is recommended. Renal function should be assessed prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Emjard should not be initiated in patients with an eGFR less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m².

Side Effects:

• Very Common: Urinary tract infections, female genital mycotic infections.
• Common: Increased urination, increased thirst, nausea.
• Uncommon: Dehydration, hypotension, dizziness.

When Emjard is used with insulin or insulin secretagogues, the risk of hypoglycemia may be increased.

Precautions:

Emjard is contraindicated in patients with a history of serious hypersensitivity reaction to empagliflozin or any of its excipients, severe renal impairment, end-stage renal disease, or dialysis.

Assessment of renal function is recommended prior to initiation and periodically thereafter. Emjard should not be initiated in patients with an eGFR less than 45 mL/min/1.73 m². Use with caution in patients with predisposing factors to ketoacidosis. Consider temporary interruption in case of surgery or acute serious illness.

Inform patients about the potential risk of urinary tract infections and genital mycotic infections.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from light and moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
