Dormicum 7.5

Presentation: Each tablet contains Midazolam 7.5 mg.

Indications: Dormicum is a short-acting benzodiazepine indicated for:

• Sedation: Conscious sedation before and during diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, including dental procedures.
• Anesthesia: Premedication before induction of anesthesia; induction of anesthesia; as a sedative component in balanced anesthesia.
• Insomnia: Short-term treatment of insomnia.
• Status Epilepticus: Acute management of prolonged seizures.

Dosage and Administration: The dosage of Dormicum is highly individualized and depends on the indication, the desired level of sedation, the patient's age, weight, clinical status, and concomitant medications.

• Sedation for Procedures: Adults: Initial dose may range from 2.5 to 5 mg orally, 30-60 minutes prior to the procedure. Lower doses are recommended for elderly or debilitated patients.
• Premedication for Anesthesia: Adults: 7.5-15 mg orally the night before surgery or 1-2 hours before induction.
• Induction of Anesthesia: Usually administered intravenously by trained personnel.
• Short-Term Treatment of Insomnia: Adults: 7.5-15 mg orally immediately before bedtime. Elderly: 7.5 mg may be sufficient. Treatment should be limited to short periods (e.g., 7-10 days, with a maximum of 2 weeks).
• Status Epilepticus: Usually administered intravenously or intramuscularly by trained personnel.

For oral administration for sedation or insomnia, Dormicum tablets should be swallowed whole with water. Do not crush or chew.

Side Effects: Common side effects include drowsiness, sedation, impaired coordination, dizziness, amnesia (especially anterograde amnesia), and headache. Less common side effects can include confusion, euphoria, respiratory depression, nausea, and vomiting. Paradoxical reactions such as agitation, restlessness, irritability, and aggression may occur rarely.

Precautions: Dormicum should be used with caution in elderly or debilitated patients, and in patients with respiratory insufficiency, hepatic or renal impairment, or a history of substance abuse. Concomitant use with opioids or other central nervous system depressants can increase the risk of sedation and respiratory depression. Avoid alcohol. May impair the ability to drive or operate machinery. Prolonged use may lead to dependence. Abrupt discontinuation may result in withdrawal symptoms. Inform the physician if pregnant or breastfeeding. Midazolam is a controlled substance.

Storage: Store below 30°C in a dry place, protected from light. Keep out of reach of children.
