Dominaaf 10 

Presentation: Each tablet contains Domperidone Maleate BP 10 mg. Dominaaf 10 is a product of Naafco Pharma Ltd. in Bangladesh and is usually available in blister packs.

Indications: Dominaaf (Domperidone) is indicated for the relief of nausea and vomiting. It can also be used for the symptomatic management of upper gastrointestinal motility disorders such as:

• Epigastric fullness
• Abdominal distension
• Upper abdominal pain
• Belching
• Flatulence
• Early satiety
• Heartburn with or without regurgitation

It can be used in conditions like non-ulcer dyspepsia, acute nausea and vomiting of functional, organic, infectious, dietetic origin, or induced by radiotherapy, drug therapy, or migraine.It may also be used to counteract the nausea and vomiting induced by dopamine agonists in Parkinson’s disease and to accelerate barium transit in radiological examinations.

Dosage and Administration: Dominaaf 10 tablets should be taken 15-30 minutes before meals. The usual recommended oral dosage for adults is 10-20 mg (1-2 tablets) every 4-8 hours, with a maximum daily dose of 80 mg.

• Adults: 10 mg (1 tablet) three times daily, which can be increased to a maximum of 20 mg three times daily if needed.
• Children: The dosage for children is usually based on body weight (0.2-0.4 mg/kg every 4-8 hours daily). However, Domperidone is generally not recommended for children under 12 years of age or weighing less than 35 kg due to a lack of sufficient safety data.
• The maximum duration of treatment for acute nausea and vomiting should not exceed 12 weeks.

Side Effects: Common side effects of Dominaaf (Domperidone) may include:

• Headache
• Dry mouth
• Abdominal pain
• Diarrhoea

Less common side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, anxiety, breast tenderness or enlargement, and galactorrhoea (milk flow from the breasts in men and women). Rare but potentially serious side effects include allergic reactions (rash, itching, swelling), uncontrolled movements, and heart rhythm disorders. If you experience any severe or persistent side effects, discontinue use and consult your doctor immediately.

Precautions: Dominaaf (Domperidone) is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to domperidone or any of the excipients. It should not be used in patients with:

• Gastrointestinal haemorrhage, obstruction, or perforation.
• Pituitary gland tumour (prolactinoma).
• Severe liver disease.
• Known heart problems or electrolyte imbalances that can increase the risk of heart rhythm disorders.

Caution should be exercised in patients with kidney disease and the elderly, as they may be more susceptible to side effects. Domperidone can interact with several other medications, potentially increasing the risk of heart problems. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are currently taking.

Use in Pregnancy and Lactation: Dominaaf should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus. Domperidone passes into breast milk and is not generally recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor for advice.

Storage: Store below 30°C, away from light and moisture. Keep out of the reach of children.
