Dinogest 2

Presentation: Each tablet contains 2 mg of dienogest.

Indications: Dinogest, containing the progestogen dienogest, is primarily indicated for the treatment of endometriosis. Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the uterus (endometrium) grows outside theuterus, causing pain and other symptoms.  

Dosage and Administration: The usual dosage of Dinogest 2 is one tablet taken once daily, without interruption, preferably at the same time each day. Treatment can be initiated on any day of the menstrual cycle. If a tablet is missed, the woman should take it as soon as she remembers and then continue to take the next tablet at her usual time the following day. If more than one tablet is missed, the woman should be advised to use additional non-hormonal contraception (e.g., a barrier method) for the next 7 days.

Side Effects: Common side effects associated with Dinogest may include:

• Headache
• Breast discomfort
• Depressed mood
• Acne
• Weight gain
• Nausea
• Abdominal pain
• Increased hair growth (hirsutism)
• Hair loss
• Changes in bleeding patterns (e.g., spotting, infrequent bleeding, amenorrhea)

Less common but potentially more serious side effects can occur. It is important to discuss any side effects with your doctor.

Precautions: Dinogest is contraindicated in patients with any of the following conditions:

• Known or suspected pregnancy
• Active venous thromboembolic disorder (VTE)
• Presence or history of severe arterial disease (e.g., myocardial infarction, stroke)
• Presence or history of severe hepatic disease as long as liver function values have not returned to normal  
• Presence or history of liver tumours (benign or malignant)  
• Known or suspected sex-hormone dependent malignant³tumours (e.g., of the breast, uterus)
• Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding
• Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any of the excipients

Caution should be exercised in women with a history of thromboembolic disorders, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, migraine with aura, or certain lipid disorders. Liver function may be affected in some women taking Dinogest.

Use in Pregnancy and Breastfeeding: Dinogest is contraindicated during pregnancy. It is not recommended for use during breastfeeding as it is not known whether dienogest passes into breast milk.

Storage: Store below 30°C, protected from moisture. Keep out of reach of children.
